Since objects are highlighted by an invisible cursor, the controls can be a bit cumbersome.Įvery piece of dialogue is voiced, either by Foster or another character. Moving around in 3D space is supposed to be a continuous process, so the slowdown can get tiring. While this may work for a point-and-click 2D setting because you usually do one action at a time and there are screen transitions, it doesn’t work so well in a 3D setting. The jog being the default movement when running with triggers could have accelerated the normal pace of spin. Half a dozen regions are not small at all and there is a little back and forth between them. Foster can go on a leisurely walk by holding down the R2 button and going slow. Slow movement while spinning can be harmful to other players. With regards to the narrative, it wasn’t a bad choice as the slow pace of the plot brings some good moments, and it manages to be a nice callback to the adventure genre of the past. Keeping a slow pace throughout the experience is both good and bad for Beyond. The small nuances between the correct image portrayed by Union City and those with cracks in said image create an interesting contrast. There are many characters to talk about who have quirky personalities.
